For those of you who haven't seen pics of the new kitten yet, please check out Syruss's post on his kitten Bitsy. She is even sweeter and better adjusted than she is adorable! (If that is possible)

2:36 pm - Again, lagging going to one of the only clubs I still like.. I SHOULD go it is my birthday next week
Another month of lagging going to one of the only clubs around I still like....

So, Satori is tonight in San Jose.

Only of a few clubs I still like, as I enjoy the

a) Music
b) People (often, old friends/acquaintances are there)
c) Don’t feel ancient. Yes, there is still a large young 20-something crowd, but people in my age range, up to much older go. A good mix of all-ages 18-around 65.
d) Is on Saturday, so is easier to go than on a friday or week night vs. (Santa Cruz clubs I wish I had the energy/stamina to go to)

I probably should go, as next weekend is my birthday. I know I would probably have fun, but...

Here are my excuses:

1) Tired (always)- extra tired and emotionally drained as Grandma's funeral was yesterday. I definitely would be too tired to drive home.
2) Need to get up at a decent hour tomorrow- My cousins are still visiting and at my parents in Los Altos, plan is to go over there tomorrow, spend the day w/them and my dad, perhaps watching old movies grandma had of when she was young, some starring my dad and deceased uncle Kenny when they were kids, visit another friend maybe while I'm out there
3) Want to spend tonight with Syruss

I am SUCH a lagger... I think it would make it a lot easier if Syruss actually liked going, but he doesn't and I learned the hard way making Syruss go to things he doesn't want to makes us BOTH unhappy.... I often find myself when I have the choice of going or not choosing to spend time with him, even if it isn't anything special...

Hey, you guys, don't let me use things as an excuse next month, especially work or being tired, OK?

Hey, anyone on my friends list who lives in the east bay, would you be interested in carpooling next month?

2008 Year of the Rat $2 Cairn Island Coin Present From Syruss
Not much new here, work, work work! But I got a VERY nice unexpected present from Syruss, for no reason, just BECAUSE he told me about the coin and I said it was neat and I mentioned I wished I had one, and because I love rats. Very sweet, there were I think a total of $30,000 made, so it wqas not easy to get.

1:23 pm - Vote for Zim and Tammie and Pass it on! Help our carpets and...
So, I wouldn't have heard about this if it wasn't for Cyne and Tammie.... of course I voted for Tammie but also entered Zim as we could REALLY use the Nature Miracle products that are a possible prize, due to not being able to afford his bladder stone surgery, and, well, his behaviour and our carpet our suffering. I've committed myself to splitting the prize w/Cyne and Tammie if Zim wins anything, as we wouldn't know about the contest at all if it weren't with her.

Humane Society Spay Day contest 2008.

Go Here:

http://www.spaydayusa.org/rate.html

Do a search for Zim, and Tammie, and follow the instructions.

You can vote for more than one pet!

In other news, work is CRAZY in a good way. This is probably the last weekend I will have free until the end of March!

2:40 pm - Satori...
So, Satori is tonight. Wish I could go, but still sick, and sickness is starting to dwell in my chest. Felt better, went to work yesterday, got worse.

Ah, well. I am glad for Satori. And I don't suspect it will go anywhere (hope it won't!) until next month.

6:56 pm - Recovering... feeling alive again
After working 31 hours this weekend, I did it to myself. Apparantly I had been harboring a sinus infection for weeks, which was building slowly in stealth that hit me in conjunction with lack of sleep and a cold with minor flu-like symptoms.

After 21/2 days of fever, sleeping, and a wonderful loving husband making sure I ate and drank, I'm beginning to feel alive again.

Lesson learned.

When I go back tomorrow, I'm going to insist we start for trial prep, and pull at least one other paralegal on the case I'm working on. No being up for more than 24 hours in a stretch for me, at least for a while.

1:10 pm - Feeling lucky and loved by family, grateful
Feeling loved by family….

Often I look too much on the negative side of things. So, I need to take time out to write down, remember, and acknowledge these things.

Yesterday, I was reminded on just how lucky I am to be an adult with parents still in my life, who still love and adore me unconditionally.

My parents came up yesterday to visit, brought my cousins Jennifer and Benjamin, and took us out to eat.

And, once again I am struck by how lucky I am to be someone whose parents still (even as an adult) love and cherish me, not to mention they are incredibly supportive.

Even though my cousins were visiting, and it would have much more convenient for everyone if I came out there, they drove all the way out to Antioch for dinner- because they wanted to give us a rug. At one point earlier I told them we didn’t really need it, and I as worried the cat would rip it up and pee on it and it should go to someone without destructive pets, and my mom started acting hurt- so we accepted the gift. So they drove all the way out to visit us (well me, Syruss had to work) to drop off the rug.

During dinner, both my mother and father recalled things I did when I was young, and their faces lit up with love and fond remembrances, like about how much I liked the moon, and other things I did as a child.

I am so lucky to have that. I know so many people whose parents are a-holes or aren’t loving. I was just struck with how lucky I am, and feeling incredibly loved.

My dad took some pictures of me with my cousins, and his face beaming with love/joy taking pictures and videos of us, and looking at the pictures and videos, just was overwhelming.

And, it was REALLY good to see my cousins. Ben has really come out of his shell. I think Jennifer is still trying to re-define herself, and I think she is finally on the right path for her…

ROFL... I don't know WHY I find this so amusing, but I do...

Also, this time of year I'm REALLY feeling the brunt of my pay cut. Trying to get gifts for family that aren't totally cheesy that I can afford. Um, feel like a failure there.

12:18 pm - Gah, any idea if cat continuing to pee on couch and couch covers...
Does anyone have any idea if:

Our cat continuing to pee on couch is likely due to known, existing, diagnosed (via ultrasound) bladder stones

Since we can't afford the surgery, anything we can do to discourage this (short of locking him up) in the meantime

Anywhere where I can get washable couch covers relatively inexpensive (that are water proof?)

6:55 pm - Today was a good day....
My good friend Revendee (Veronica) came out to visit today! It was so good to see her, and so honored that she took Bart out to see me! I got to show her the neater parts of Antioch, our house, and one of my favorite places at Black Diamond Mines. She told me a lot of really interesting things related to her knowledge/expertise of study, and some interesting projects she is working on. I can't wait to hear how some things turn out! Plus, of course, spend time with her excellent company :D
Very good day.

Oh! And we discovered something that I find very odd.... and kinda neat...

Our local Wetzel's pretzels has a drive-through! I don't know why I find that so interesting/neat...

6:26 pm - The 5K cat saga continues... more vet issues w/Zim
So, Friday night, Zim started yowling in the kitchen. Syruss said it sounded like something was wrong (unlike his usual kitchen yowling).  Zim was doing the tail shake shimmy, and dancing his back legs back and forth.  He did this alot when he was blocked/had a catheter in, and after the P/U surgery when his stitches were pulling him... so this was a little concerning...

And then he dripped adbout 4 drops of blood onto the kitchen floor.

So, Zim was off to the Er vet, AGAIN.  the ER vet things it is most likely idiopathic cystitis...  chronic on/off inflamation usually triggered by stress... i.e. like bladder infections w/out the infections... or a bladder infection.  I'm hoping it's the 2nd, but it is most likely the first.

We may end up with a cat on prozac, after all.
